Course Objectives, Requirements & Contents
Calculus I is an important and basis compulsory theoretical course for student majored in economics and management.
This is a complete course in first-semester calculus. Topics include the meaning, use, and interpretation of the derivative; techniques of differentiation; applications to curve sketching and optimization in a variety of disciplines; and derivatives of exponential and logarithmic functions.
A primary objective of a course in calculus is to provide a bridge for the student from high-school or lower-division mathematics courses to upper-division mathematics. The student will be challenged to grow in mathematical maturity, and to develop and strengthen problem-solving skills.
Through study of this course, students are asked to study the following points:
1. Systematic obtain to the basic knowledge of Calculus, really control the content of the basic concepts, basic theories and methods.
2. With more skilled and initial operation capability of solving practical problems.
3. Cultivate abstract thinking ability and logical reasoning ability, thus lay a good foundation to learn subsequent courses.
