Earthquake 7.8 on the Richter scale hits Sichuan on april 12th. Wong Kiu Fung (Kelvin), a student of Jinan University, donated his Scholarship (RMB 8000) for the Sichuan earthquake though the Red Cross Society of China, which has formed a disaster relief working group to be dispatched to the earthquake-stricken Wenchuan County in Sichuan.
In 2006, Kelvin already donated part of his President’s Scholarship to International School as a donation to students who have financial problems, which showed his great concern for others. Now he donated again and set a good example for all of us. Here are some detail information of him:
Kelvin is an outstanding student of International School, Jinan University. During his stay in JNU, he got a lot of awards for his outstanding academic performance. From 2003 to 2006, he was awarded the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarship, the First National Scholarship of Students of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of Jinan University, the President’s Scholarship Award, etc. In 2004, he was offered places in both Hong Kong University, Bachelor in Engineering and Jinan University, Bachelor in Medicine. He chose to come to Jinan University.
Kelvin enjoys a wide range of interests and took part in many kinds of activities. He was the Vice Chief Editor of the college magazine “Pioneer”. In 2002, he got the third Prize from the program for the gifted and talented 2002 (winter) “How do we emerge from a coma-producing illness?” by the Chinese University of Hong Kong and was the 2nd Runner up of “Learn to Care, Care to Learn” Design Competition by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects. Also, he was selected and completed ‘Future Leadership Course’ training in the Tsinghua University, Beijing.
