Course Description:

This is an advanced news gathering and writing course that offers theory and techniques of news writing and reporting. Students will learn how to find, collect, and weigh facts, identify sources, frame the collected information in a meaningful context, choose words carefully, and build a compelling story that interests and informs readers. The course’s readings, discussions, exercises, and assignments are designed to help develop news judgment, critical thinking skills, and journalistic writing ability. Students will also learn how to promote their stories and interact with the audience through digital tools.
