Inorganic Chemistry Experiment

All chemical principles, tools, and techniques are developed in the laboratory. The experience of observing a chemical phenomenon and then explaining its behavior is one that simply cannot be gained by reading a textbook, listening to a lecturer, or viewing a video. It is in the laboratory where chemistry comes alive, where chemical principles are learned and applied to the vast natural chemistry laboratory that we call our everyday environment.

The objectives of a laboratory experience are to design and build apparatus, develop techniques, record and interpret data, and deduce rational theories so that the real world of science is better explained and understood.

At the successful completion of this course, you will demonstrate an understanding of the key chemical principles of each experiment through the observation, collection, and summarization of experimental data using the scientific method. To do so, you will develop proper laboratory skills and techniques for acquiring reliable and reproducible data in a safety-conscience laboratory environment. The understanding will be exhibited by the successful completion (1) of each experiment, (2) of each lab report, and (3) of a final assessment examination.

This course focuses on laboratory techniques, data collection, and data analysis. It illustrates and expands upon many of the concepts and problem-solving techniques encountered in the non-laboratory course.
