When finished the learning of normal functions and metabolism in PHYSIOLOGY and BIOCHEMISTRY, medical students will study PATHOPHYSIOLOGY, a compulsory course that emphasizes the etiology and pathogenesis, the alterations of metabolism and functions, as well as the principles of prevention and therapies, which enables them to understand the mechanism of diseases and to use the knowledge in the process of diagnosis and treatment.

As one of the bridge courses between basic medicine and clinical medicine, the contents of PATHOPHYSIOLOGY are organized in three parts: introduction of PATHOPHYSIOLOGY and diseases; the fundamental concepts and pathological processes, such as hypoxia, fever, shock, etc.; the mechanisms of the insufficiency or failure in vital organs.

7. Heart failure and Respiratory failure

8. Hepatic encephalopathy and Renal failure
