Medical Students Volunteer Team (MSVT) Held a Volunteer Medical Consultation
16 April 2016, Medical Students Volunteer Team (MSVT) held a volunteer medical consultation, in the community center of Guangzhou Panyu Nansha district XiLi Village. Through cooperation of MSVT, consisting members from 2011 Clinical Medicine to 2015 Clinical Medicine students from Jinan University, Jinan University First Affiliated Hospital, Macao Tertiary Education Services Center, and XiLi Village Community Service Center, great success has been achieved.
Around 50 members of MSVT from International School Clinical Medicine Major students, have participated in different parts of the consultation. And around 120 local residents have joined the consultation. It was an honour to invite Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor, Dr. Zhao and Dr. Gao from Thoracic Surgery Department of the Jinan University First Affiliated Hospital to join in our meaningful event.
Apart from Blood Glucose Measurement, Vital Signs checking, Medical History Taking and Physical Examinations, Electrocardiogram (ECG) is also used for a more precious diagnosis with patient suffering from cardiac disorders. Two teams of well trained First Aid Members are all set in the site, to provide immediate measures during emergency and accidents. Meanwhile, Dr. Gao has also shared his clinical experiences with the students and provided numerous health advice to the residents. Dr. Zhao has also delivered a Traditional Chinese Medicine Food Therapy Lecture and consultation for the residents, which highly attract more elderly to join in the discussion, and thus increases the popularity of the event.
At the end of day, all residents showed their respect and appreciations for the hard work of volunteers, and most of them gave good compliments about the consultation, claiming about the excitement for our next consultation. As for our members, nearly all of them believed that it was a great honor to take part in this meaningful activity, and indeed increased their clinical experiences and knowledge in the consultation. Hope that in our next consultation, more people can join in, and have increased sense of taking good care of their health.
