We the students of MBBS 2011, Vimala, Satya and Gaurav got a chance to see the freshmen of 2015.Today is the first day for them in this wonderful University ,they started this day with registration . Most of the students are so excited . This is the day for a new beginning of their life Jinan University .For every students college life is very important ,this is the place where they meet new friends from different places ,share their knowledge and experiences and grow better .Also ,University life is one of the best memorable days of life .Today, many parents accompanied the students ,we could see the great expectations in their faces too. Coming to the support from the University to the freshman is really awesome.It was a huge amount of work for the senior students who have been working for day and night to make this process selectively easier for the new students, preseting to them with a sense of belonging and homely environment. It felt really good to see the new students go through these process in life. For them it was a new day of life, from leaving their home and entering in a new University with such a huge campus, interacting with new people from different parts of this planet, finding their dormitory rooms and settling down. That reminded us our freshmen days in this campus four years back.
All schools from Jinan organised their own welcome posts but according to our observations it was International School who had the most eye-catching, and splendid welcome post out of all. One thing we learned from this visit today was that even the smallest of works had the highest accountability of teamwork presented. The work done by every single senior student on such a massive scale was definitely praiseworthy. This whole deal and presentation made the whole process easier for all the new students. It definitely made their first day in campus comfortable. Here is where begins their journey of life and perspective.The atmosphere at South campus was live and energetic . There were people from all around the world entering the campus and starting their new life. This gives people a huge amount of international exposure. This in a way helps people to see life through a new perspective and helps them gain experience which in turn would give them the confidence to move forward in life.
We interviewed a few new students to gain an insight on their perspective about this exposure and experience they were gaining at the instant. Here are a few words from freshmen,
Ricky from Indonesia of IET first year says its splendid to see the new campus.He joined this university with reference of few senior students of Jinan university from Indonesia.
Eugenie from central america of finance first year says that she is happy to be in Jinan and wants to make many friends.She is an overseas Chinese and she mentioned she desperately wanted to come China for her studiesChristopher from Tanzania of accounts says this campus is hilarious and cool .Wen xing from Yunan province says that she feels like dream coming true.Zhang Qing ,a student of FQS from Anhui mentioned she wanted study well and get higher grades also she would like to explore Guangdong province.And many more students shared their experiences happily with us ,these all happened in south campus of our Jinan university.
Now lets come to our main campus here also we found the same environment we saw lot of foreign students with full of enthusiasum in their way towards bright future.Almost all places is crowed with new students and their families.Moreover,to many new stalls opened for new students to buy things like new sim cards ,beddings ,washing machines etc.Mei Ting ,student union president of International school says that from her experiences in freshmen events ,she feels this year south campus of Jinan University got more foreign students.She also said that the new students of IS to communicate with each other well ,make more friends ,take part in all extracurricular activities ,get help from seniors to know about the campus and don’t be shy to express yourself.June,International school student congress president mentioned that she feels freshmen are more active,especially the foreign students look more active and independent.Many foreign students who registered today ,said this is their first time to China ,they don’t speak Chinese.Some of them told , confidently ‘we will learn mandarin soon.’ A few overseas Chinese students and some students from Malaysia and Indonesia were able to speak in Chinese.
Mr.Liu ming ,a teacher from International School advices the freshmen to make more friends, attend the classes regularly on time ,to be independent, Manage time skillfully and learn about safety intructions in and out of campus.All his words ,are extremely valuable to the new students in this campus.
Mr.Andy He ,a teacher from International school ,appreciated Student Union and Student Congress for their wonderful job.He mentioned that this his 4th time to take part in freshmen events in the campus,he feels that this year it is perfectly arranged.All the instructions like how to pay the fee,campus map , programmes list and all other important instructions given in both English and Chinese.So,it made the students to understand the plans well for the coming week.He gives an wonderful advice for beginners such as work hard ,play hard and enjoy your life.
We felt this year the international school improvised the freshmen events to a newer hight which is made only possible by All teacher’s and senior student’s valuable time and hard work.Everyone were really enjoying their work in guiding freshmen.We international school students always feel that ‘we are family’ and now we welcome new members to join our family and live happily.Written By Vimala Thiyagarajan
