Peer Sharing Session with MBBS Students
A peer sharing session with MBBS students was held in the second social building at 7:00pm on March 14th. At first, Vimala gave her lecture. She said she came to the Jinan University so she wanted to know about Jinan University. Then, she shared her learning experience in Jinan University, such as solving the difficulty of language in labs. She found it helps that she can read first before entering the lab, which she also suggests to every student as an effective way. Then she mentioned that she thinks it is important to have an optimistic attitude to learning. The process of learning is not only to learn, but also something that should be part of normal life. So, she makes herself love it and practice it every day. When talking about the grades, she emphasized the importance of GPA, which is 1.5 corresponding to 65, 2.5 to 75, etc. Moreover, she advised not to stay in the dormitory all day, but to go out and take part in activities with Chinese friends. This also helps international students practice Chinese and be familiar with Chinese culture. Finally, she showed a video about her life, for example, sports, volunteer activities, Skyland club and some festivals.
Next, Satya introduced his experiences. Regarding study, he thought the key to get good grades is hard work, and then more hard work! The reason why he works so hard was that he came to China with a firm brief-- becoming a good doctor through the study in Jinan University. On the other hand, he thinks GPA is not everything; it is better to study for fun, and then he can find the interest so that he can really like it and so become motivated. As for the learning methods, he thought the best way is to improve himself by communicating with friends. To some degree, there is no competition among friends, because everybody has something to be learned. And he thought it is important to make good friends from all over the world. Finally, he pointed out that sometimes his teachers did not provide an effective teaching method. However, after complaints, he found that the point is to work hard.
After the speech, the two lecturers participated in an interview with Journalists. Vimala answered the questions about what she had gained in China and something fun and shareable in her life. She said she appreciates many qualities of Chinese people, such as kindness and punctuality, which are beneficial to her. And she will share something interesting when she goes back to India about the scene of so many people dancing in the square, which she had never seen before. Then Satya said, compared to India, China is more developed, and its items are cheaper. And here there is a large number of people with warm hearts; they always help him and give him a warm sense; this is especially true of Chinese girls.
In conclusion, during today’s peer sharing session, the two lecturers dedicated their time and shared their valuable experiences. Many students attended as members of the audience and all gained invaluable insights during the session.
