On October 16th, the International School Volunteer Team spent a warm and unforgotten night with several children in Guanzhou Tianhe Rehabilitation  Experimental School. Although it is the second time for volunteers visiting them, we have already established the relationship of love and care.

Tian he Rehabilitation Experimental School is a specialized school with severe physically disabled children; more than 200 students take the normal educational courses there. According to different situations of students, the school designs the different specific rehabilitation training programs for them.
During this visit the 12 volunteers has been divided into three groups to help them with different activities. Group ‘A’ helped children with handwork and making 3D greeting cards, Group ‘B’ helped children with drawing and music Group ‘C’ taught them to sing songs.

Early that day, the children found volunteers in the playroom and greeted them with warm hugs and asked them about activities tonight. When volunteers asked “Do you still remember me?” most of them remembered them and spoke out the names of the volunteers. “I was really touched” a volunteer said,” I was only here once but she still remembers me”.

Compared to last time, they were more focused on tasks. Children in group A learnt needlework and card design, although in the beginning it wasn’t going well but they finished works with volunteers’ encouragement. Children in group B focused in drawing with crayons, some children weren’t happy about their own designs; but nevertheless the volunteers motivated them to do and complete. The final works showed their wonderful capabilities of these students. In music group, the children were very active and learnt lively, They not only learnt the song quickly but also the confidence they gained was astonishing.

More and more volunteers were willing to help, at the same time, they learned a lot from these children. They learned to be thankful for their lives and gained a positive outlook towards life, which encourages them to chase their dreams, and to move forward.
