Objectives and Requirement:
 
"Pathophysiology" emphasizes the etiology and pathogenesis, the alterations of metabolism and functions, as well as the principles of prevention and therapies of diseases, is a compulsory course for the medical students who are finished the learning of normal functions and metabolism in physiology and biochemistry. This course will enables them to understand the mechanism of diseases and to use the knowledge in the process of diagnosis and treatment.
 
Contents:
 
As one of the bridge courses between basic medicine and clinical medicine, the contents of "Pathophysiology"are organized in three parts: introduction of pathophysiology and diseases; the fundamental concepts and pathological processes,such as hypoxia, fever, shock, etc.; the systemic pathophysiology and mechanisms of the insufficiency or failure in vital organs.
 
"Pathophysiology" is also the subject that emphasizes both theoretical and experimental studies. Besides studying from lectures, proper laboratory practices are also arranged in the schedule. The purpose of these studies is to provide an opportunity for medical students to practise, observe and discuss the mechanism of disease and to obtain a good training for establishing their scientific and clinical thinking and working capacities.
 
The course also matches the need for the students whose majors are related with medicine and life sciences.
