Objectives and Requirements:
1. To make the Western medicine college students acknowledge of the origin , the historical traditions and achievements of Traditional Chinese Medicine, be familiar with the characteristics, basic theories, current developments of TCM, the achievements of Integrated Chinese and Western medicine, accompanied with learning modern medicine ; To make the students improve the understanding of the Chinese traditional culture, To improve the traditional culture disposition of medical students ,To settle foundation for engaging in medical work for medical students.
2. The most important is understanding. The requirements are :the students should have a direct knowledge of simple theories of the foundation of TCM and the means by which a traditional Chinese physician diagnose and treat disease. The students should understand the effects of Chinese crude drug and the principle of making up pharmacology of traditional Chinese medical formulae ,and the Chinese medical treatment methods of common disease .
3. Study the traditional Chinese medical diagnosis and treatment technology, to enhance the understanding of the complicated vital phenomena, to comprehend the cognitive difference of human life between the different medical systems, to expand the vision, open ideas, to increase clinic diagnosis and treatment knowledge and technology, and so that Lay foundations for further TCM studying.
4. Combining with the current achievements of integrated traditional and western medicine, make heuristic teaching, explain medical knowledge by comparison of the two different medical theories, pose the problems unsettled now, so to improve student's interest in learning.
Contents：
Introduction; Yin yang and five elements; Visceral figure; etiopathogenisis; technique of diagnosis;
differentiation of symptoms and signs; therapeutical principle and therapeutical methods; science of Chinese materia medica; pharmacology of traditional Chinese medical formulae.
