Objectives:
 
Surgery II is the teaching of each chapter of surgery so as to let the medical students on the base of grasping basic theory, basic concept, and basic skill of surgery study and master the surgical knowledge of etiology, development, pathology, clinical presentation, systemic examinations, key points of diagnosis, differentiation, principles of prevention and treatment, and surgical indications of familiar disorders in neurological surgery, urological surgery, and osteology.
 
Contents:
 
Surgery II consists of neurological surgery, urological surgery, and osteology, which is the compulsory course for medical students learning clinical medicine. Neurological surgery describes the contents of etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and differentiation, and treatment in the familiar diseases of intracranial high pressure, cerebral trauma, intracranial and intravertebral vascular diseases, and tumors. It covers pathological changes of related organs of trauma, infection, tumor, and abnormality. Urological surgery involves surgical examination of urology and male genitalia, abnormality of urological and male genital system, trauma of urological system, infection of urological and male genital system, tuberculosis and obstruction of urological system, urolithiasis, and tumors of urological and male genital system. Osteology is composed of conspectus of fracture, trauma of upper limbs and joints, hand trauma, trauma of lower limbs and joints, fracture of vertebral and pelvis, trauma of peripheral nerves, chronic trauma of motor system,low back pain and neck-shoulder pain, suppurative infection of bone and joint, bone tumor, tuberculosis of bone and joint, non-suppurative arthritis, abnormality of motor system.
 
Methods:
 
The teaching process of each chapter of surgery includes classroom teaching, self-study, bed side teaching, and practice. The teaching contents should be integrated theory with practice, focused on familiar disorders and endemic, carried out the policy of prevention. The medical achievements in the home country and oversea countries will be properly introduced. To comply with the change of medical teaching model, the teaching contents are emphasized to combine basic theory with clinical skills. The contents to be mastered will be deeply and clearly explained by teachers. The basic knowledge or theory should be thoroughly comprehended by the students that will be utilized in clinical practice. The contents to be known well should be interpreted, key points should be got hold of by the students on the base of thorough comprehension. The contents to be realized could be resumptively narrated, the students should have general realization. As the limit of total time, the capability of self-study will be enhanced to be trained, several chapters will be arranged in the way of self-study, the students are required to work hard, while teachers give guidance and answer questions.
