A group of students and staff from School of Public Health and Information Sciences at University of Louisville embarked on an international study program in IS on May 13th.
The one-week intensive program co-developed by the two schools provided students site visits to a local sewage treatment plant and Guangdong Provincial Institute of Public Health at Guangdong Provincial CDC, where they had opportunities to interact with the professionals. They also took lectures on topics such as American pollution stories, food safety and economic development in China. In addition, the group enjoyed a wide exposure to local food, scenery, culture, history and languages.
Students said the program was very successful and conducive to their study. It enhanced their understanding in the public health sector in China as well as Chinese culture.
