Since the middle of April, the International Cup has been organized by the Sports Department of International School. There are 5 events this year: basketball, football, volleyball, dodge ball and badminton. The basketball tournament has completed at the end of April. Football tournament were held recently. And the Dodge ball and Badminton are going to be held on 23rd and 24th of May while the Volleyball is to be held during 25th to 27th May.

Dodge ball is a new event this year. As an international sport, Dodge ball is not as famous as other sports in mainland China. But it’s popular in the Western countries and Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Dodge ball allows everyone to participate in regardless of age and gender. It is a helpful exercise for one’s agility and the balance of the team members. The game is held in hope of promoting mutual understanding and communication among different classes of students. It is glad to see that both the participants and spectators will have fun in the International Cup.

The football matches, which are on going, have attracted a number of foreign students to join. 08 Finance is one of the most eye-catching teams with 8 foreign students among the total of 12. The amazing thing that this real international team broke through into the International Cup finals! It is the players’ persistent efforts and sweat that draw them to the final stage. Once a player from the Kenya was injured, but he didn’t give up the game until he couldn’t run. The audiences were all moved by his commitment and sent spontaneously applause for him. The leader of 08 Finance said that:“both the foreign students and Chinese students are trying their best to play the game. We believe with our team members’ perfect corporation, we will eventually grasp the victory.”

The football finals will be held on 17th May between the 08 Finance and the 05 International Economic &Trade. Let’s cheer for the two best teams in our school! Good luck to you boys!
