International Trade
Course Objectives,Requirements,Contents
Theory and Policy is a required course for the students majored in International Economics and Trade. Also the course is the foundation for other lessons in this field. The course is for the students majored in International Economics and Trade and finishing the basic courses in economics, which requires the students have basic knowledge in economics and have learned intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics.
The course mainly introduces and discusses the basic international trade theories and policies as well as the ongoing issues during the development of international economy. The theories includes: Classical trade ideas and theories、Neoclassical trade theory and the expansion and application of Neoclassical trade theory model. Trade policies mainly discuss the effects of various policy tools on domestic prices、production、consumption and the whole national income as well as welfare. We use concrete cases to reveal the logic and principle behind practice.
The trend of economic globalization、World Trade Organization、Local cooperation in economy and trade as well as the opening of China are important issues in the development of world economy. There are specific introductions for these in the course, furthermore we use case study to help the students to understand and focus on the connection between theories and practical issues.
Through the course we hope to achieve the following goals:
The first, the students could understand the important concepts and analytical methods of international trade;
The Second, the students could know the causes and trends of the development of international trade (including globalization and China becoming a member of WTO);
The Third, the students could use what they have learned to discuss and explain the practical trade issues and other related problems.
