Health related, life entrusted - the 2013 M.B.B.S Freshmen Welcome Ceremony
On March 21st, the welcome party for the 2013 M.B.B.S students was held at 7:30pm in the Management School, R101. It was a carnival for all students from India, Somalia and Jordan.
As well as the Dean of the International School, Mr. Tang Shuze and all teachers and staff of the International School, there were also other leaders of Jinan University present at the party.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Mr. Tang Shuze gave a speech to all the freshmen to give his warm welcome and expectations. “All I want to talk about tonight can be summarized in two points. The first one is academic study, and the other is Chinese study.” It is really a great opportunity for all M.B.B.S students to learn Chinese culture. “JNU is a special university with advanced equipment and a newly-built hospital. Don’t waste your time in the following six years. I hope you can make good use of your leisure time, making Chinese friends, having other Chinese classes, etc.” In addition, as doctors, they have to follow the rules of doctors and the most important thing is no cheating.
"You know, both India and China have long histories, and it is really a good opportunity that you are in this country. What you can get includes not only academic knowledge, but also the Chinese culture.” This was followed by a speech from the business developer of Saraswati.
Next, all the M.B.B.S. students read the medical oath led by a senior M.B.B.S student.
"The moment I step into the hallowed medical institution, I pledge solemnly
I will dedicate myself to medicine with love for my motherland and loyalty to the people.
I will scrupulously abide by the medical ethics, respect my teachers and discipline myself.
I will strive diligently for the perfection of technology and for all-round development of myself.
I am determined to strive diligently to eliminate man’s suffering, enhance man’s health conditions and uphold the chasteness and honor of medicine.
I will heal the wounded and rescue the dying, regardless of the hardships.
I will always be in earnest pursuit of better achievement.
I will work all my life for the development of the nation’s medical service as well as mankind’s physical and mental health.”
All freshmen and senior students took photos with the guests and teachers after the ceremony.
Later, it was time for the show. Everyone enjoyed the splendid performances: singing, dancing and Chinese kongfu; it was full of both Chinese and Indian culture. It ended with an exciting atmosphere; all the freshmen and senior students came to the stage, dancing together with the Dean and the party secretary of IS.
