Hygienics is an important course of Preventive Medicine and a required course of students major in Clinic Medicine. It emphasizes the priority of prevention, and the notion of group and environment. It prevent illness and promote health through improve and utilize environment factors. Through teaching, the student will learn corresponding knowledge of Hygienic theory and skills of practice, establish the idea of giving priority to prevention, and learn to deal with relate problems in hygiene service with the strategy of three-level prevention. The objective of Hygienics teaching is to, combined with the reality of the major of Clinic Medicine, make the students know the affinity between environment and health, understand the influence on health of the important factors in the living and working environment (air, water, food, etc.), and realize the working principle and basic organization measure of prevention and health protection in our country.
Content
1.Preface: the concept and meaning of health, the concept and classification of sub-health; the concept of Hygienics and its relationship with fundamental Medicine and Clinic Medicine; a brief history of the development of Hygienics in our country and the direction of its development in future.
2.Living Environment & Health: the physical and chemical property of air and its Hygienic significance; the influence to human health of air pollution; familiar air-polluting substance and their damage to health; in-door air pollution and health; basic requirement of sanitation of drinking water; the standard of water quality of drinking water.
3. Food & Health: food-borne diseases, food poisoning and its prevention; food pollution and its prevention.
4.Working Environment & Health: Occupational deleterious factors and occupational damage; productive toxic and occupational poisoning (lead poisoning, hydrargyrism and benzene poisoning); productive dus and Silicosis. High-temperature operation and Heliosis.
