Pathophysiology is a compulsory subject in medical education. It deals mainly with the pathogenesis, focuses on the dynamic functions and metabolic changes in diseases, and clarifies the nature of health disorders. As one of the bridge courses between basic medicine and clinical medicine, the related fields such as biochemistry, physiology, anatomy and pathology should be reviewed to understand the relationship between metabolic changes and illness development.
Pathophysiologyis also the subject that emphasizes both theoretical and experimental studies. Besides studying from lectures, proper laboratory practices are also arranged in the schedule. The purpose of these studies is to provide an opportunity for medical students to practise, observe and discuss the mechanism of disease and to obtain a good training for establishing their scientific and clinical thinking and working capacities.
