Course Objectives & Requirements:

Introduction to Environmental Science is an introductory, general science course that helps students to understand the natural environment and the environmental problems the world faces. This course is interdisciplinary, involving a wide variety of topics and considerations from different specialty areas of study. The objective of this course is to provide students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and to examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them.

  

After learning this chapter, students should be able to:

(1) Understand the importance of environmental protection;

(2) Explain the concept of environmental science;

(3) Understand the types, causes, environmental effects of environmental pollution.
